Brewing great pour-over coffee is a thing of beauty.
It’s science. It’s art. It’s magic.
But really perfecting the perfect cup of pour over requires the practice, patience, and the right equipment.
Since pour-over coffee is all about precise pouring, temperature control, and brew time, the kettle used to pour the coffee is perhaps more critical even than having the best pour-over coffee maker.
You need a gooseneck kettle. A good one.
The Best Gooseneck Kettle for Pour-Over Coffee
Hands down, our favorite pick for the best gooseneck kettle is the Fellow Stagg EKG.

Gooseneck Kettle vs Teapot Spout Kettles
What’s the secret? Why is a gooseneck better than a normal teapot-style kettle?
The answer is quite simple:
- Precision. Gooseneck spouts helps ensure a precise pour of hot water, regardless of the brewing device (Chemex, Hario V60, or even French Press). This is critical because you can be sure to properly saturate — and bloom — all of the grounds in your pour-over device.
- Flow. The curved spout helps with how fast or slow the flow of water is reaching coffee grounds, ensuring the perfect increments of water and coffee grounds are mixing to create an ideal water:coffee ratio — and, ultimately, the perfect cup of coffee.{editors pick}
Electric Pour-Over Kettles vs Stovetop Pour-Over Kettles
Hopefully you’re convinced that gooseneck kettles are the way to go. But there’s still another debate to be waged here.
Should you go electric or stovetop?
Let’s look at each option.
Electric Kettles
- Fast and more convenient
- Usually come with a built in timer so you can just set it and forget it
- Built-n Thermometer along with customizable presets ensure the perfect brewing temperature for different brewing methods
- Not the greatest option for outdoors folks as it is electric and needs to be plugged in
- Electric kettles tend to have a higher price point
- Best for: At-home brewing, convenience, and precision.
Stovetop Kettles
- Hard to get an exact temperature
- Classic method of boiling water
- Not as expensive as electric
- Easier to clean
- Better option for campers or people that love the outdoors
- Best for: Versatility, value, and low-maintenance brewing.
Ultimately, there’s no right answer here. Both types of kettle can be used to make a great cup. The decision really comes down to how, when, and where you tend to make your coffee.

Now let’s dig into what we love about each of these products.
#1 – Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Gooseneck Kettle(Best Overall)
Let’s start with our top pick for the overall best gooseneck kettle for pour-over coffee.
The Fellow electric kettle is — in a word — striking.
The sleek design and high-quality build would look great in a coffee shop or on your kitchen counter. And, functionally, it offers all of the features you’re looking for in a high-end kettle with nothing quirky or extemporaneous.
What We Love About It
- Stainless Steel kettle body with matte black finish
- Small base that doesn’t take up too much space on the countertop
- Sleek pointed spout for easy pouring and controlled flow rate
- To-the-degree precise temperature control
- Can hold water temperature for up to 60 minutes
- 2-year warranty with registration
What We Don’t Love
There aren’t any functional limitations or drawbacks with this one.
The only downside is the price point — this is a high-end option that may be more expensive than your budget allows.
Recent Product Changes & Updates
Aside from the signature matte black look, the Fellow EKG is now available in many different brushed stainless steel color options.
#2 – Bonavita Variable Temperature Gooseneck Electric Kettle (Barista’s Pick)
The Bonavita is another great pick and, in our review, it was tops amongst professional coffee makers (AKA baristas). They enjoyed the flexibility of multiple temperature presets and the ergonomic design makes it especially well suited for those of us brewing a lot of coffee over the course of the day.
What We Love About It
- Stainless steel kettle body
- Easy-grip handle for a steady pour
- Sleek spout design for precise pour control
- 6 customizable presets for brewing different methods and types
- Automatic Shut-off
- UL Certified for both Commercial and Household use
- Can Hold temperature for up to 60 minutes
- Fahrenheit and Celsius display options
What We Don’t Love
Like the Fellow model, this kettle comes with a higher price tag attached.
Unlike the Fellow, it offers a 1-year warranty rather than 2 years.
#3 – Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle (Best Smart Kettle)
If you’re big on multitasking and connecting everything you own to the Internet, then the Cosori Smart Electric kettle is a good choice.
What We Love About It
- Smart device — connects to your phone and internet
- Food grade stainless steel kettle with matte black finish
- VeSync app to connect via bluetooth to customize temperature settings
- Rapid boiling water in only 3-5 minutes
- Automatic Shut-off
- More affordable than some of the other picks
- 2-year limited warranty
- 30-day money back guarantee
What We Don’t Love About It
Oddly, this kettle only allows you to choose from 1 of 4 temperature settings.
This means you can’t dial in the exact temp you want like with the other options. For most use cases, this is probably fine. But if you’re a true scholar of the coffee sciences (or just really particular about your water temperatures), this could be a dealbreaker.
#4 – Oxo Brew Gooseneck Kettle (Best Value)
If you’re looking to make great drip coffee but don’t want to break the bank, you could do a lot worse than this Oxo model.
While not quite as sleek and attractive as some of the high-end models, it basically offers all of the same features and functionality as our top picks. So, of course, it’s a perfect choice for those working on a smaller budget or dabbling before upgrading to something more professional grade.
What We Love About It
- Stainless Steel Body
- Adjustable Temperature with built in timer to achieve desired temperature
- Rapid boiling water in only 3-5 minutes
- Automatic Shut-off
- Affordable price point
- 2-year limited Warranty
What We Don’t Love
While this isn’t the most attractive model on the list, there isn’t much to complain about. Perhaps the most notable drawback of the Oxo kettle is that it’s heavy — it weighs noticeably more than other options and some of our reviewers noted it felt a bit bulky for comfortable daily use.
#5 – Ovalware Electric Pour Over Gooseneck Kettle (Best for Coffee & Tea Drinkers)
Here’s another great pick for someone looking for a versatile electric kettle.
With simple controls and built-in timer, the Ovalware kettle is a great piece of kit for either coffee lovers and tea enthusiasts alike — or a household with one of each!
It’s small and compact, but packs the same power as other kettles we reviewed.
What We Love About It
- Stainless steel Body
- Non-slip handle
- Rapid boiling water in only 4 minutes
- Small and compact
- Built-in stopwatch
- Can act as both coffee kettle and tea kettle
- 1-year limited warranty
What We Don’t Love
There are just a few minor things to be aware of with the Ovalware model.
For one: The temperature control settings only let you dial in +/- 1 degree, farenheit. So if you’re an ultra-precise brewer who likes to dial it into the tenth of a degree, this may be a minor annoyance.
Secondly, the small size can be a bit of a limitation. For one, the kettle only only 0.8L, which makes it ideal for single-serve coffee, but may not be enough for larger carafes or pots for a large group.
On a related note, in testing, we noted that the fill line was pretty unforgiving. Trying to squeeze a bit more into the kettle would usually cause water to boil over or spill out of the spout.
#6 – Brewista Artisan Gooseneck Electric Kettle (Best for Supporting Small Businesses)
While most of the options we reviewed are produced by large, multi-national companies, there’s something to be said about shopping small.
So, we wanted to include this Barista Artisan option as a way to support smaller companies building high-quality equipment for at-home brewers.
And, with this one, you won’t have to make any concessions in order to support an upstart company. This kettle comes fully-equipped and looks gorgeous to boot.
What We Love About It
- Gorgeous, innovative design
- Available in many colors
- Stainless steel
- LCD Temperature display for Celsius and Fahrenheit
- Precise temperature control
- Ergonomic handle and gooseneck spout for controlled flow of water
- Created by a small business in the US
What We Don’t Love
There’s really nothing to complain about here. But it’s worth noting that this kettle is — perhaps unsurprisingly — on the higher end of the market. And the warranty is 1-year rather than 2.
#7 – Coffee Gator Gooseneck Kettle (Best for Beginners)
Here’s a stovetop kettle that checks all of the boxes.
We consider this the perfect entry-level kettle because it’s hassle-free, functional, and affordable. While the gourmands amongst our team may prefer the more visually stunning models, there’s nothing that Coffee Gator can’t do when it comes to heating and pouring water.
What We Love About It
- Stainless Steel
- Built-in Thermometer
- Usable on all types of stovetop (convection, electric, gas)
- Easy to clean
- Built to last at a good price
- Easy to read temperature markings for specific brewing methods
What We Don’t Love
The only thing we’d change about this model is the fill line.
In our review, we noted that filling to the stated capacity would often lead to water boiling over and out of the kettle.
#8 – Hario V60 Buono Drip Kettle (Best Pour)
There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with pouring from the Hario V60 Buono.
It’s minimal design is sleek and understated — but the water seems to glide from the kettle into just the right spot in the grounds. This is a purpose-built kettle to pair with the Hario V60 dripper and the commitment to pour-over shows through in the small touches that make it such a joy to use.
What We Love About It
- Tried and True classic gooseneck kettle rated as a top pick by baristas and coffee lovers all over
- Minimalist design
- Stainless Steel
- Super-thin spout for perfect flow of water
- Capacity holds 1.2 liters
- Usable on all stovetops
- Ergonomic handle and design for easy, safe pouring
What We Don’t Love
The Buono is probably not ideal for a true beginner. For one, it doesn’t include a built-in thermometer. So you’ll either need to have your brewing game dialed in by look/feel or use a separate external therm.
On its own, that’s probably not a dealbreaker. But it’s worth noting that this kettle is a bit less forgiving in its pour and even the fill line and capacity rating.
That’s the tradeoff with superior precision — less room for error.
#9 – Barista Warrior Stainless Steel Gooseneck Kettle (Most Stylish)
Simple, elegant, and backed by a lifetime warranty.
What more could you want from a stovetop kettle?
This model heats water with precision and without much fuss.
The Barista Warrior kettle looks great on any stove and comes in stainless, copper, or matte black to match the decor of your choice.
What We Love About It
- Premium, food-grade stainless steel or copper coated
- Built in Thermometer
- Usable on all stovetops
- Ergonomic handle
- Easier to read for specific temperatures
- 1.2-liter capacity
- Lifetime warranty (!!)
What We Don’t Love
In our testing of this kettle, we really had no issues at all. But, notably, it did feel perhaps a bit less durable than some of the other models we reviewed.
And, in fact, we noted that reviewers who used the kettle for some time had periodic issues with the build quality. Notably, it was a bit more difficult to empty/clean because of the tiered groove design and the thermometer is susceptible to collecting condensation.
But perhaps that’s all moot since it comes with a lifetime warranty.
#10 – Kalita Copper 600 Gooseneck Kettle (Best for Single-Serve)
The final amongst our favorites is a small, single-serve-friendly kettle that’s great as a gifts, travel, or camping.
It has an elegant design and looks great — plus the copper-coated stainless steel is durable enough to take on your next excursion (or, at least, any dents will blend in with the hand-crafted facade!)
Just be sure not to leave it in the forest as this model is pricier than some of our other top picks!
What We Love About It
- Stainless steel with copper coating
- Small and great for travel
- Great for Single serve pour over coffee
- Sleek design
What We Don’t Love
This is a great all-around kettle and we don’t have too much to complain about.
But it’s worth noting once again that this is a smaller kettle (0.6 liters), so it’s best suited for small servings of coffee rather than making java for a large group.
